Your Church, Business, or Organization can help by committing to a portion of the total need...

History of Diamond English School

Before receiving help from India Bible Literature, the Diamond English School had only 215 students who met in the thatched-roof classrooms which also served as dormitories. There were no funds available for expansion.

  • 1996 - India Bible Literature helped in constructing the first girls' hostel
  • 1998 - India Bible Literature helped to construct the first concrete two-story building for classrooms.

The following growth subsequently occurred:

  • 1997 - 215 students
  • 1998 - 407 students
  • 2002 - 700 students
  • 2003 - 800 students
  • 2004 - 900 students

Out of the present 900 students, 400 children are in boys' and girls' hostels.

Diamond English School has not only become a center for secular knowledge, but also a center for the truth from the Word of God.

Current Status

Diamond English School has obtained such a strong reputation for excellence, that parents are literally sitting at the door post waiting to enroll their children. It has been chosen by the Indian Government as the only center for Computer Training in the Darrang District. The government has provided 8 computers and a fully furnished computer room to the school.

  • Morning and evening devotions are held regularly.
  • Several Bible classes are conducted regularly for hostel students.
  • A full-time person constantly monitors the spiritual activities of the entire school.
  • Buddhist parents from Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan are admitting their children who are showing keen interest in Christianity.
  • Two graduates who stayed in the hostel have started churches in totally non-Christian communities. One church was started among the Manpa Tribe on the China border and the other among the Chhakhma Tribe in Arunachal Pradesh.

Current Situation

The majority of new enrollments are boarding students from far away places such as:

  • Buddhists from Bhutan.
  • Chhakhma Tribals from Bangladesh, Tibetan Buddhists from Arunachal Pradesh, etc. 60% are from very genuine, poor, deserving, and yet backward familes.
  • For the past 3 years the school has had to reject 75% of new applicants due to lack of adequate facilities.

Required funding: $90,358

Three ministries result from one initial investment!

  • Funds first used to print Bibles for 30,118 homes.
  • Money from Bibles used to build Boys' and Girls' Hostel for Diamond English School in Assam. Increases Christian School enrollment by 200 students.
  • Increased tuition funds training and equipping of at least 24 national Church planters per year indefinitely.
